Amrit Dhaliwal, Founder and Chief Executive of growing home care provider Walfinch, has been nominated for the Social Care Top 30 for the second time.
The Top 30 recognises the most influential leaders in social care, and the winners are chosen by a popular ballot. The winners of the 2025 poll will be announced at an awards ceremony at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on October 21st.
Amrit says: “This nomination is a huge honour for me and everyone at Walfinch. The whole team are dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of our clients every day, and by extension, to the whole home care sector.
“Awards like the Social Care Top 30 help transform the image of the care sector, so that it achieves the positive pubic recognition it deserves.”

In 2024 Amrit came second in the awards, but in the year since then, he and the Walfinch team have pushed on with their ambition to redefine the image of care.
Championing Activity and Wellness
In late 2024 Amrit announced Walfinch as an activity and wellness champion, offering activity alongside care, to clients and their local communities.
- Every client receiving one hour of care is now offered at least ten minutes of activity of their choice. It could be walking, gardening, going out for coffee, or getting up to make themselves a cup of tea, aided by their carer.
- He also launched Wellness With Walfinch YouTube videos where qualified trainers offer a chance to join in activities such as yoga and physical training. Clients can join in the exercises at home, with their carers.
- Walfinch branches operate Walfinch Thrive Clubs, free local exercise and activities classes, open to anyone, where local people can combine activities with meeting old and new friends, and can ask questions about care and Walfinch’s services.
- Amrit has also become a Business Ambassador for the Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS). The charity recommends physical activity to help tackle osteoporosis, which causes bones to lose strength and break more easily. Walfinch is raising funds for ROS, offering its carers fracture awareness training and encouraging people to check their osteoporosis risk online.
Amrit’s first book, Time to Thrive: The Home Care Revolution, was published in Spring 2025, setting out his vision for redefining the whole care sector by bringing care voices together to help solve problems and transform the industry.
Amrit also has ambitious growth plans for Walfinch, aiming to have 200 branches in five years. He also has plans to expand the number of Walfinch Thrive Clubs, and to develop Walfinch’s plans to bring proactive care, such as wellness checks, into communities across the country.
