Who Are We?
Walfinch provides bespoke, high-quality care at home to individuals and families across the UK. We’re different: we aim not just to help you maintain your lifestyle but to enhance your independence and help you live comfortably in your own home.
We are small enough to provide the high-quality bespoke care that everyone would want, and big enough to provide it in a reliable, professional way. Walfinch works from local offices with local Managing Directors and carers, so we are local to you.
“What do you want?” is always our first question.
Once we have really listened and discussed what you want, we will work with you to draw up a personalised Care Plan tailored to you.
Find a caregiver close to you
We know that there is no place like home.
Nine out of ten people say that they would prefer care at home to moving into a care home. Walfinch delivers that. We provide hourly at-home care and 24-hour live-in care, from carers, trained to provide all kinds of care, from companionship to specialist care for conditions such as dementia, multiple sclerosis (MS), stroke rehabilitation and more.
Our care packages are bespoke and flexible, and never shorter than one hour, so you get the best of individual attention.
Quality Care You Can Trust
Our Caregivers serve as an extension of your family to care for your loved ones in times of need. We assist families to respect the wishes and rights of their loved ones to be cared for in the place they know as home. Most clients wish to not have their environment disrupted yet need to be kept safe and properly cared for.
Why ‘Walfinch’? The name references the finch – a bird that has successfully evolved, like the company’s care services, to be at home in a huge number of varied habitats – with the surname of Amrit Dhaliwal, the Walfinch Ltd Managing Director. There are many types of finches, including the goldfinch, greenfinch, and the familiar canary, just as there are many types of care that Walfinch offers. We find ways to have fun because we enjoy what we do. We believe in a work, life balance which increases productivity.
Our values in practice: The Mum Test
We know that there is no place like home.
Nine out of ten people say that they would prefer care at home to moving into a care home. Walfinch delivers that. We provide hourly at-home care and 24-hour live-in care, from carers, trained to provide all kinds of care, from companionship to specialist care for conditions such as dementia, multiple sclerosis (MS), stroke rehabilitation and more.
Our care packages are bespoke and flexible, and never shorter than one hour, so you get the best of individual attention.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. — Aristotle
Our carers
Our carers are the most important people in our organisation because they are the people who care for you. We believe that the better we treat them, the better care they provide.
Be assured that all our carers:
- Pass the mum test. We only consider employing a carer if we are confident that we would like them to be looking after our own mum.
- Have passed the Government’s enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and are employed only after positive personal reference checks.
- Have received 30 hours of exceptional training that exceeds the minimum required by the care sector regulators and once employed, take part in regular training workshops to update their knowledge.
- Many have also received extra training in care for Dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke after-care, specialist conditions and more. Find out more here. (Link to Services page which lists all of them)
- Are carefully matched to their clients, so their interests coincide with yours. For instance, if you are a sports fan or enjoy crafts, we will find a carer to suit you, so you will always have topics to talk about.
- Are actively encouraged to bring a bit of fun into your life – one of our core values is to find some fun in everything we do.
- Are local to you, so they know your area.
- Are paid above the usual rates for the care sector and more than the living wage
- Are more likely to stay with Walfinch. The majority of our carers stay with us year-on-year – so you are more likely to get to know each other well.

The people behind Walfinch
Amrit Dhaliwal, Managing Director
Amrit is the Managing Director of Walfinch franchise. After graduating from Keele University with a degree in History & Economics, he realised very quickly he needed to be in business for himself. In quick succession he transformed an Italian deli in Richmond in Surrey into an award winning Italian restaurant. Then a street away developed a successful tea shop, again recognised with a prestigious local business award. He was able to sell both and invest the profits into several property development sites in London.
At the same time, he developed a well-known domiciliary care franchise in Oxford from a standing start to £1 million turnover over 6 years, developing a valued core team of 70 and winning Franchisee of the Year award. This practical experience has given Amrit clear insight on how to help each franchisee develop their business effectively and reach their goals. Walfinch’s mission is to work with each franchisee using Walfinch’s system to develop a client focused and profitable business.
Simon Mills, Franchise Advisor
Simon is a former franchisee who built his own franchise territory and went on to resell the business, so he knows the kind of issues you may face as a franchisee – and the huge rewards that come with running a successful business. Simon provides the coaching that will help you develop your teams and business profitably, passing on his expertise in executive management and leadership, strategic planning and forecasting, consulting and mentoring, and training.
Richard Stanfield, Franchise Support Manager
Having worked in the franchising sector for nineteen years Richard brings a wealth of experience when it comes to supporting franchise owners. He has worked closely with people from very varied backgrounds, including those at the very beginning of their franchise journey to those who are very well established and operating multimillion-pound businesses.
For the past four years Richard has worked with one of the UK’s largest domiciliary care providers and has thus developed a passion for this sector and for helping franchisees deliver high quality care to those families and loved ones that need it.
Julie Farrow, Senior Franchise Support Manager
Julie has 25 years' experience in the care sector and over 12 years' experience in franchising. She has supported over 70 businesses to start their home care business, helping to recruit, market, launch and beyond. She brings a wide range of experience working with businesses trading at £100, 000 per annum to £6,000,000 per annum and is well versed in all aspects of business development - from problem solving, coordinating and cater retention, to business growth and strategy.
Amanda Keeler, Compliance & Quality Assurance Officer
Amanda is fully focused on the CQC requirements of all the franchisees at Walfinch. Amanda is also ‘nominated individual’ for the Oxford branch which means she gives advice and has oversight of CQC compliance just the same as she does for many of our other branches. Amanda’s higher education qualifications include the Law and Youth Justice, Social Worker and Leadership and management in Health and Social Care. She is also a level three in medication supervision, diabetes report writing, and APIS diabetes end-of-life care. Amanda is also currently completing a further degree in politics and Level three in autism. She is also a ‘train the trainer’ and is qualified to assess students' higher education up to level four. Recruitment is each RM’s responsibility. However, Amanda’s extensive experience is available for advice and support for recruitment for specific skill sets if necessary.
